In a 2003 speech, former Cargill CEO Warren R. Staley explained to listeners that the core magnet attracting individuals to Cargill was a simple phrase: “To be the global leader in nourishing people.”

We believe being a leader means seeing the opportunities … sometimes before anyone even realizes the need.

For Cargill, nourishing people means taking care of the environment, too. Today, current CEO and Chairman Greg Page says, “Cargill’s commitment to the environment grows from our vision to be the global leaders in nourishing people. Food and feed depend upon clean water, clean soil, clean air and sunlight. Whether we are improving how we conserve water or we are developing better agricultural practices with our farmer customers, we are together finding ways to preserve and protect the environment.”

For the furniture industry, that meant the introduction of BiOH polyols, an alternative to petroleum in the production of upholstery foam cushioning. Our polyols were the first renewable choice available for large-scale production of foam, and we are committed to developing products that continually increase the level of renewable content in foam cushioning.

It was a simple proposition. But the chemistry wasn’t. The team within our start-up division was small. But our vision wasn’t. We were first to market a solution that offered outstanding quality, comfort and price. With soy-based foam ingredients, we offer the industry an opportunity to stabilize supply and an alternative to petroleum-based chemical companies with their supply chains back to oil fields. Instead, our supply chain rests in the hands of farmers.

Isn’t it time to rethink what you’re sitting on? Let BiOH polyols help you make the responsible choice.
